Touch me Nots

I remember one hand in my mom's and the other reaching out to each and every mimosa on the way to my nursery. Smiling away everytime one shuts, as though it was the first time i saw it happen. From touching them with the very tip of my fingers as a nursery kid to just sweeping my BM2000 shoes over them as a primary six student, mimosa"s" have played an important part in my childhood.

Today just seeing them gives me the shivers whenever i prone in the jungle. Cuts on my fingers have left an everlasting impression of their sinful thorns. I grinned to myself thinking about my sudden change of perspectives the other day.

I suppose all good affairs have to come to an end sooner or later.

I have learnt to embrace the fact finally.

Whatever it does now, the world still turns.

Goodbye Tekong

Finally.
130906.
Private Manoj Prabhoda.

Emotions?
I don't know.
First you want it to end, now you wish you could take the Penguin fastcraft back one final time.

Finally it's just four more days to my passing out parade. At this point of time, i am yet to be instructed how i am supposed to feel but then again here are some perks of being "promoted" to a private:

No longer being labeled "space monkey"
No longer having to carry the ugly green square bag out of camp
May even be able to wear civilian clothes when booking out
A possible pay rise
Chance of landing an 8 to 5 vocation
High possibility of never returning to Tekong

I dont know where i'd be posted, the only hint i have is that i was called up for the recce troopers interview. Yeah apparently they are the first to go out there if there is a war and they go around on bikes (scramblers), kinda cool if you ask me but its real tough cause you gotta go for the POW course and other crazy stuff, so i guess i wasn't the most enthusiastic of people when interviewed. Well frankly i guess its best to just try to be positive and enjoy the last few days in BMT.

Well all these thoughts and emotions are easily forgotten everytime new recruits walk by, through us shouting, "POP Lo!" Gives a really nice feeling looking at their reactions. Its just karma, hey i was shouted at when i first enlisted. Sometimes the idiots would come really close when marching by and whisper "Pop... Pop". Yes its bloody irritating and i know how it feels. Ha.

Oh, Happy Birthday to my brother Funky!

Blue Dress - Depeche Mode

Put it on
And don't say a word
Put it on
The one that I prefer
Put it on
And stand before my eyes
Put it on
Please don't question why

Can you believe
Something so simple
Something so trivial
Makes me a happy man
Can't you understand
Say you believe
Just how easy
It is to please me

Because when you learn
You'll know what makes the world turn

Put it on
I can feel so much
Put it on
I don't need to touch
Put it on
Here before my eyes
Put it on
Because you realise
And you believe

Something so worthless
Serves a purpose
It makes me a happy man
Can't you understand
Say you believe
Just how easy
It is to please me

Because when you learn
You'll know what makes the world turn
