gan eng seng.

Photobucket
I spent the best of my football days at this basketball court. Watching my elder brothers kickass and later strutting my own moves on this court. We spent saturday evenings and sunday mornings playing here. We used to climb over the fence and once we were even caught by the police. We later got permission from the principal of the school and were given written permission to play there. The kind of talents on this court was phenomenal, when I was younger, they were even featured in a local magazine. When the ball was kicked over the fence, someone had to either climb over or creep under that massive fence. Those were the days. The last few years of playing there was plagued with having to plead and even bribe security guards with prata when gan eng seng shifted out.

Funky, Nivi and I stood there the other night staring at what has turned into a carpark.

the leftie.

My mum always tells me that I was born a left hander and I was eventually slowly trained to become a right hander because of "practical" reasons. I pretty much believe her because till this day, whenever I'm doing certain things, I subconsciously revert to my leftie as my master hand (for example: putting a piece of thread through a needle)

Though I think I'm comfortable with the way my hands function and know that they are pretty good friends with one another, I think the change over is the reason for my crappy drawing and writing. I spent four years of my childhood going to art class. A pretty conventional oriental tutor drew something on the board and we had to copy, water color it and outline the characters. It didn't help doing the same thing for years cause I never improved.

I always got a C or D for art in sec school cause I just never got the drift. My mum was always quick to point out the crappy art grades and remind me of the money spent over four years of my childhood.

When I wanted to get into ADM, the idea of having to draw there really freaked me. In the end, a super nice Prof and her wonderful bits of advice got what I think is close to what I deem the best out of me. They aren't masterpieces but these mean a lot to me cause they show hey, my rightie works well after all.

exams.

It's been a couple of years since a sat for an exam/test or anything of that sort. Oh yeah... the army had exams but the answers were always copied or given to us so way or another. Even the most serious of exams (grenade handling test).

I had a paper yesterday and honestly, I've never seen myself procrastinate this badly. It was like I was playing a game with my clock. Pushing my starting time forward and forward promising to burn the midnight oil. My candles died early and I was in bed by 2.

The paper for the next day was Western Art History. I gave up on History and abandoned it in sec 2 and it's back to haunt me now. Thank god all went well for the paper though.

I have another paper on Thursday and yes I'm still playing with the clock.

chillax.

Stop whatever that you're doing.
Plug your headphones unless you have good speakers (that don't run on batteries)
Sit back, relax and enjoy.

My eldest brother and dad were fortunate enough to watch them play live at the Esplanade.

happy thoughts.

I once visited a wonderland more than a few times daily. Where I met friends I had lost for years. Where I was informed who checked me out. Where I found my girlfriend. Where I put up happy photos. Where I was greeted with random smiles. Where I saw testimonials about me, half of which were exaggerated anticipating one from me in return.

Today it has become more of a weekly visit. Everything has aged. Where the runners are adding friends to my list even without me realizing. Where it's no longer nice being seen around. Where a testimonial is usually a cheesy gif animation wishing you for some festive holiday.

Where I'm yet to totally abandon simply because of those happy times I once had there.

Singapore Biennale

The 2 locations we went to (South Beach n City Hall) were filled with pretty average works. Honestly... sucky video installations which had people sitting and watching probably because they needed an excuse to rest their aching feet. But a few of the works were really awesome.
